The Manda Water Supply Project is located in Manda, Tanzania, near one of the largest lakes in the world – Lake Nyasa (also called Lake Malawi). The community lacks clean, safe, and reliable water supply to crucial community points like the primary schools, secondary school, and the medical center. Villagers, including school children, resort to walking several miles each day to collect water from lake or other sources. These water sources are not completely safe and are contaminated by bathing and washing activities, animal dung, and waste runoff. While there's existing infrastructure, like a well and a water main, its unreliable, in need of rehabilitation, and needs to be expanded upon in order to adequately serve the community. We aim to work collaboratively with the community and our partner NGO to develop a sustainable solution to the water supply problem in Manda.
